The stars of ABBA have hinted that, despite their more than 40-year failing marriages, they are still in love with each other.
On Friday, the Swedish group debuted Voyage, their first album since 1981, and shocked listeners with honest songs about their yearning for each other, the betrayals separating them. Benny Andersson, 74, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, 75 wed in 1978 and divorced in 1981; Agnetha Falstkog, 71, and Bjorn Ulvaeus, 76, were married from 1971 to 1980. Since then, they have all gone on and married other people; but, they came back in 2018 to record fresh music. Agnetha, 71, and Anni-Frid, also known as Frida, 75 sing Voyage, which Bjorn and Benny wrote, albeit opinions of it have been divided. The women on the song, I Can Be That Woman, seem to be expressing their regrets about being no longer wed to their exes. "You're not the man you should have been, I let you down somehow," they croon. "I can be that woman right now; I am not the woman I could have been."
They go on: "You cannot believe the glitter of hope in your eyes.
But you almost certainly will start crying. Oh, god, I'm sorry for the years lost.
